Trees will be planted around the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris under a plan to give the Cathedral a greener environment, after the fire that destroyed its roof in 2019. There will be 131 trees planted, and on a hot day a 5 mm "sheet of water" will run down the forecourt. It will reduce the surface temperature by 10 degrees celsius. The water used will be rainwater collected and stored underground. The underground carport will be turned into a visitor's center. The landscape architect said the vegetation will create "microclimates" around the cathedral. Work will begin in 2024 after the Paris Olympics. The London Times
