Our Mission

WE Tree Boston Inc was founded by Cathy and Tom Griffin after seeing how few trees exist in the city and how many older trees are at risk of dying. Our goal is to learn how to partner with neighbors, landowners, universities, private companies, the city and state to make Boston 'greener' one tree at a time. We then want to go from neighborhood to neighborhood to share what we have learned, so that others can do the same in their communities.
Trees are critical in urban settings, and yet many assume the city cares for all of them, but that is not the case. It is essential for neighbors to get involved to help care for these beautiful assets. Trees help capture both carbon and pollution, they also capture storm water which helps reduce flooding. The next time you are going from a street with no trees to one with trees, pay attention to how you feel, trees help improve mental health.
